Wright is headed to Boise State

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian athlete Damion Wright took an unofficial visit to Boise State Friday and didn't waste much time in committing to the Broncos.

Damion Wright has been one of the state's most prolific quarterbacks the last two years, earning all-state underclass following his sophomore and junior season. As a junior, Wright threw for 2,512 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 1,000 yards and 18 more scores.

While playing for his Ground Zero 7v7 squad this past spring, Wright made the move to safety and was a natural in the secondary. He showed great instincts for the position along with the athleticism and ball skills to excel.

Boise State was first to offer him back in April and Wright committed to the Broncos Friday morning.

"I love this place," Wright said while still on campus. "I got here last night and going in to the visit, I told myself if things went well, I would commit. It didn't take me long at all to realize what a perfect fit this was for me and I decided to commit this morning.

"I love everything about it. I love the coaching staff and have a great relationship with Coach Yates. I love the campus, the facilities and there plan for me. They see me as a free safety with the opportunity to come in and compete right away and that's what I'm planning to do."

Wright, who will play on both sides of the ball this coming season, said he's shutting his recruitment down and won't be visiting any other schools.
