BADGER BITES: Will represent Wisconsin this summer on the WCHA All-Star Team which travels to Italy in August • named pronounced BESS-er • shoots left • coached by former Badger Mark Osiecki at Green Bay • Personal: full name is Daniel Michael Boeser • parents are Russ & Teri • has an older sister, Lisa (28).
2001-02/Sophomore Season: Played in all 39 games--has played in all 80 career games • led Badger defensemen in scoring with 5-23=28, and was sixth in the WCHA (among defensemen) • set career highs for goals, assists and points in a season • had seven multi-point games--UW was 6-1 in those games • his career-best four-point effort (1-3=4) vs. Alaska-Anchorage on Feb. 1 was only four-point game by a Badger on the season and the first by a UW defensemen since Tim Rothering vs. Denver on Oct. 25, 1999 • ended the season on a four-game point-scoring streak (0-6=6) • in playoff series against MSU, Mankato, he was 0-4=4 with a +3.
2000-01/Freshman Season: One of the league’s top rookies • led all first-year defensemen in goals (4) and finished third overall in total points (4-13=17) among rookie blueliners • one of just three first-year defensemen to play in all of his team’s games • established a UW record at defense for longest penalty-free streak • played in 33 consecutive games before being whistled for his first and only penalty on Feb. 24 at Colorado College • scored power-play goals vs. Minnesota (Jan. 20) and at North Dakota (Feb. 10) • tallied two assists (including assisting on the game-winning goal) in NCAA first-round tournament win over Providence • Awards & Honors: Was twice honored as the WCHA’s Rookie of the Week: Oct. 9 vs. UMass-Amherst (1-1=2, +2) and Feb. 12 for play at North Dakota (2-1=3, E).

Before He Was a Badger: Junior Hockey: Played for the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) for two seasons (1998-2000) • during the 1999-00 campaign scored 3-34=37 in 58 games, helping lead the Gamblers to the USHL Playoff Championship (Clark Cup) • Green Bay was also the national tournament runners up • played in 46 games during the ‘98-99 season (4-10=14) • High School: Attended Burnsville (Minn.) High School (1997-98) where he was team captain and awarded team MVP honors that season • Awards & Honors: A 1999-00 USHL all-star • named second-team all-USHL and played in the Top Prospects Tourney for the USHL.
