While some teams were recruiting Johnson as a receiver, NU has told him they want him to work into an outside linebacker position in the new 3-4 defense the Cats expect to run in the future.

Johnson was named first team all-conference defensive back and second team all-conference wide receiver as a junior. He also led Kenosha County in interceptions and yards per reception. Johnson also competes in track.
