2004 - Junior season
Switched from safety to linebacker and started four games • Sixth on the team with 53 tackles (35 primary, 18 assists) • Also forced a fumble and blocked a kick • A standout special teams player who earned UNC's special teams player of the week award against William & Mary and Miami •Had four tackles, including three primary hits, in the win at Duke • Made four primary tackles in the win over Wake Forest• Had three tackles and forced a fumble against Virginia Tech • Made five tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss in the win over No. 4 Miami • Had four tackles, including three solo stops and a tackle for loss •Made one tackle against NC State •Had three tackles against FSU • Had eight tackles, including five primary and three assists, against Louisville • Posted 2.5 tackles for losses of three yards against the Cardinals •Finished second on the team with eight tackles (five primary, three assists) against Georgia Tech •Made his first career start at linebacker at Virginia and had a team-high six tackles in the loss • Made six tackles in his debut as a linebacker against William & Mary.
2003 - Sophomore season
Played in all 12 games and started nine at strong safety • Finished second on the team with 96 tackles, including 62 primary stops and 34 assists • Also had Carolina's only two interceptions of the season • Had one tackle for loss and one pass breakup • Had at least three tackles in every game and posted at least 10 tackles in four games • Started in his first career game on defense against Florida State and posted 10 tackles (8 primary, 2 assists) in the season opener • Made three tackles vs. Syracuse before severely lacerating his finger • Was forced to miss most of the Syracuse game with the injury • Came back to register a team-high 14 tackles in the next game at Wisconsin • Also had two interceptions against the Badgers • Both interceptions came during Wisconsin drives into Carolina territory in the second quarter • Picked off one pass in the end zone to thwart a scoring attempt and picked off another at the UNC 11-yard line • Registered nine tackles, including seven primary stops and two assists, at NC State • Made five tackles against Virginia, four at East Carolina, three vs. Arizona State, eight at Clemson and six at Maryland • Made a career-high 17 tackles, including 10 solo stops, in the win over Wake Forest • Followed that performance with 10 tackles at Georgia Tech • Had seven tackles versus Duke.
2002 - Freshman season
Was one of seven true freshmen to see action • Played tailback in the last six games of the year and started at tailback in his first career game on October 19 at Virginia • Was third on the team with 217 rushing yards on 56 carries • Ran for a season-high 67 yards on 15 carries at Virginia • Also had 67 yards on 17 carries vs. Maryland, including a long-run of 17 yards • Had 11 carries for 47 yards at Wake Forest.
