With forward Ryan MacMurchy leading the way, Wisconsin's
offense came roaring to life Saturday evening.
MacMurchy played a role in all of the Badgers goals in a
4-0 victory over Quinnipiac, giving Wisconsin (0-2-0 WCHA, 3-3-0 overall) their
first series sweep of the season.
The Badgers also benefited from the solid play of freshman
reserve goaltender Brian Elliot, who made 19 saves in his collegiate debut.
The story, however, was Wisconsin's offense, which produced
49 shots on goal, peppering Bobcat goalie Jamie Holden throughout the game.
One night after finding the net for the first time this
season, captain Rene Bourque made it two nights in a row, opening the game's
scoring with a tally at the 3:53 mark in the second period. MacMurchy assisted
on the play.
Quinnipiac's Matt Craig tied the game just more than five
minutes later, but the Badgers responded with three uncontested goals to close
out the game. MacMurchy tallied two of the scores and assisted on the other.
