Grimes Waits on the Paperwork

Hollywood Hills teammates Tony Grimes and Clarence Murphy are such good friends that they are determined to play college football together. While the duo have many offers between them, there haven't been many opportunities to play at the same place ... until now.

MADISON - It isn't often that high school players come out and say that they are going to be a package deal with another player. Most of the time, those deals fall through anyways, and each player finds the best fit for themselves.

The Badgers are familiar with package deals from Florida. In the Class of 2006, Wondy Pierre-Louis and Culmer St. Jean from Lely High School in Naples, FL thought that they were going to be playing at the same school. Culmer St. Jean wound up committing to the Badgers, while Pierre-Louis committed to West Virginia, only to change his mind and go to Florida, where he currently starts at cornerback.

This time around the Badgers are in the middle of another potential package deal involving defensive players from Florida. Defensive end Clarence Murphy and cornerback Tony Grimes of Hollywood Hills (FL) High School have stated that they want to continue to play football together.

While Murphy had offers from the likes of Maryland, South Florida, Central Florida and Wisconsin, Grimes is much more heavily recruited with offers that include Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Oregon.

While Grimes didn't have an offer from the Badgers, he stated that Wisconsin was among his leaders, even without an offer. That has now changed for Grimes.

"Yes, I believe I got the offer, but I haven't gotten a letter. So it isn't for sure yet," Grimes told Badger Nation. "They told my coach they were gonna offer."

While the offer added another school to an impressive list, it becomes one of, if not the first matching offer with Murphy. This puts the Badgers in prime position with the two standouts for the Spartans.

While the Badgers are the most recent team to join his list of offers, they currently sit in his top three.

"Yeah, they are (in my top 3)," Grimes said.

Grimes maintains his top three of Ole Miss, Michigan, and Wisconsin, but is still considering many schools that have offered him.

While the Badgers are far from home, Grimes has reasons he is considering the Badgers. "Clarence (Murphy) has a lot to do with it," Grimes explained. "Plus, I think I can play earlier there."

Grimes - rated as the 10th-best cornerback in the class of 2010 - is still trying to set up official visits, but will most likely visit Wisconsin, Ole Miss, and Michigan, along with two other schools.
