Johnson Becomes a Demon Deacon
MADISON - With every new scholarship offer that came in, River Hill (MD) cornerback Kevin Johnson compared it to what Wake Forest offered him. "It was a tough choice, but I loved what they (Wake) offered me," Johnson said in a message to Badger Nation. After seeing what the program had to offer him, Johnson finished all his camps and school visits on Sunday and took five days to mull over his decision, ultimately deciding to call the Demon Deacon coaching staff that he was coming to play for them in Winston-Salem starting in 2010. Johnson picked Wake Forest over his other favorite, Wisconsin. It was a tough decision for Johnson, who kept delaying his decision for more than a month before finally deciding to pull the trigger. Although the Badgers appeared to be the early leader, Johnson's three visits, including a trip to Tobacco Road last weekend, and subsequent camp at Wake Forest pushed them into the lead. "The staff is great, the environment is great and the football program is headed in the right direction," said Johnson, who will play with good friend and former River Hill teammate Michael Campanaro. "The coaches are very calm, love my size and quickness and said I can make an impact." Johnson is the 14th commitment to Wake Forest's 2010 recruiting class and the second secondary player, joining Florida safety Desmond Cooper, Florida cornerback Merrill Noel and North Carolina cornerback A.J. Marshall.
