This season, Wisconsin not only has one of those players, they have two, and both come in the same week.
With Berlin lineman Dallas Lewallen expected to commit to Wisconsin tomorrow afternoon, Waunakee offensive tackle Jake Irwin became UW's fifth verbal commitment and fourth from the state of Wisconsin.
According to reports by the Wisconsin State Journal, Irwin was told by his head coach, Pat Rice, to call Badger head coach Bret Bielema this morning. When he did, Bielema told him he was extending him a scholarship, which Irwin accepted without much hesitation.
A two-year starter for a Warriors team that won the Northern Badger Conference title with an overall 11-1 record the past two seasons, Irwin earned All-Northern Badger first-team honors as a junior and honorable mention recognition as a sophomore.
Although he is expected to play on offense and defense his senior year, Irwin is being recruited by Wisconsin as a defensive end.
