DULUTH, MN. - Junior co-captain Blake Geoffrion scored two
consecutive goals for the Badgers, making this the second straight game
in which he has notched two goals, but it wasn't enough to get a win against Minnesota Duluth, a the two teams end in a 3-3 tie Friday night.
Geoffrion's first goal tied the game at 2-2
in the third period, while his second, less than two minutes later, put
the Badgers in the lead. The Bulldogs scored again before the end of the
third, however, to cap the scoring.
Sophomore Patrick Johnson scored Wisconsin’s first goal,
and put the first point of the game on the board at 14:28 into the first
period. UW freshman Matt Thurber drew the UMD defense
to the right side of the net on their side of the ice and executed a
sharp pass through the defense to Johnson, who was left open for the
score.
The first period ended with the Badgers in the lead. There were not many
scoring opportunities early in the game, yet Wisconsin outshot the
Bulldogs 11-8.
Halfway through the second period, the Bulldogs found the net to tie the
score at 1-1. A blind Badger pass resulted in a turnover at Wisconsin’s
blue line, where Mike Connolly capitalized on the play to sneak the puck
past junior Shane Connelly for the goal.

Oberg took the lead for the Bulldogs with a one-timer on a five-on-three
power play.

control of the puck at Minnesota Duluth’s blue line and shot from the
top of the faceoff circle to the right of the net to beat UMD’s Alex
Stalock.

consecutive goal. Junior Jamie McBain shot the puck,
which slipped through to senior Tom Gorowsky, who
was positioned to the right of Stalock. Gorowsky’s shot slid under UMD’s
goaltender outside the crease, where Geoffrion found the puck and batted
it into the net for the 3-2 advantage.

Justin Fontaine shot the puck past Connelly on a rebound to set the
score at 3-3.
Connelly finished the game with 25 saves.
