Badgers to Play at Soldier Field

Posted Oct 16, 2008

The University of Wisconsin and the football program announce a variety of schedule changes, including a 2011 matchup against Northern Illinois in Chicago at Solider Field.

MADISON - The University of Wisconsin's future football schedules -- which include two-game series with three Pac 10 opponents, a resumption of the popular series with UNLV and a road game in one of pro football's most hallowed venues -- continue to take shape.

Seven of the Badgers' 12 games in 2009 will be played in Camp Randall Stadium, including four Big Ten Conference contests and another three against non-league opponents.

The UW will open the 2009 campaign with three non-conference home games - Sept. 5 against Northern Illinois, Sept. 12 vs. Fresno State and Sept. 19 against Wofford. The Northern Illinois game was originally a road contest scheduled for Oct. 24, but that date will now be a bye week for the Badgers. The Sept. 5 date had originally been a home game with Central Florida, which is now off the schedule.

Wisconsin's 2009 Big Ten opener will be a Sept. 26 matchup at home with Michigan State. UW then takes to the road for games at Minnesota on Oct. 3 (first Big Ten game in the Golden Gophers' new stadium) and Ohio State on Oct. 10. The Badgers return home to face Iowa on Oct. 17 and Purdue on Oct. 31. Wisconsin is at Indiana - for the second straight season - on Nov. 7, home with Michigan the following week and at Northwestern to finish conference play on Nov. 21. The Badgers' regular season-ending road game at Hawaii, originally scheduled for Nov. 28, will now be played on Dec. 5.

Beyond 2009, the locations of the Badgers' two-game series with UNLV in 2010 and 2011 have been flipped. Wisconsin will now play at UNLV on Sept. 4, 2010 and at home against the Rebels on Sept. 3, 2011.

Wisconsin's game at Northern Illinois, originally scheduled for Oct. 24, 2009, has been moved to Sept. 17, 2011 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Between 2010-15, the Badgers' schedule currently features two-game, home-and-home contests with Arizona State, Oregon State and Washington State, all from the Pac 10 Conference.

UW's two-game series with San Diego State, originally scheduled for 2010 and 2012, has been cancelled.
