Badgermaniac takes a look back at his Keys to the Game from the Wisconsin-Marshall game.

1. Big and Little

Well, Marshall did give the Badger ground game a little trouble, more trouble than I thought they would. They certainly did not shut the Badgers down, but I think it is safe to say that the Badger rushing attack did not win the game.

2. C.J. Spillman In the Box

Spillman was active and did come up to force the action, but was not a significant factor in the game, finishing with just 5 tackles as the Badgers took to the air.

3. Rattling the Newbie

Cann was impressive early and made some nice reads and throws. However, as the game progressed, the Badgers started getting in his face and forced some very poor throws that lead to turnovers. Cann was eventually pulled from the game for a period of time.

4. Cleaning up in the Red Zone

Wisconsin was perfect in the red zone, going 6 for 6, so that aspect of the team was better. However, a bad start, fumbles, penalties, and a missed PAT were amongst the consistency errors that still need to be cleaned up as the schedule takes a significant step forward.

5. Darius Marshall vs. Jae McFadden

Jae McFadden played very well, garnering Defensive POTW from the coaching staff, a testament to his effectiveness. Marshall finished with just 3.3 yards per carry on 15 attempts and was never a factor.

Badgermaniac’s Prediction

Moderatet success here. The Badgers offensive performance was vastly different than expected as Allan Evridge threw for over 300 yards and the Badgers put up 50+ points for the first time since the Indiana game in 2006. The defensive performance was about as expected.
