Anthony Davis Big Ten Player of the Week

Anthony Davis earned Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Minnesota Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Davis, coming off a thigh injury from a stabbing incident, has put together two of the most impressive performances of his career in back-to-back games.

Davis shared the honor with Penn State's Larry Johnson.

It was Davis' first Big Ten weekly honor. He had a career-high 45 carries for 301 yards and five touchdowns. His yardage total is the 10th-best single-game output in Big Ten history and fourth-best at Wisconsin. His 45 carries are also the 10th-highest mark in Conference records. He tied a school record with his five TDs. Johnson earned his fourth Big Ten weekly honor of the year after rushing 19 times for 279 yards (14.7 average) with four touchdowns in the first half against Michigan State. With his 279 yards, Johnson became just the ninth player in NCAA Division I-A history to rush for 2,000 yards in the regular season. He finished the regular season with 2,015 yards, the ninth-highest total in NCAA history. His yardage was a PSU record for rushing yards in a half and he is the first Big Ten player to rush for 2,000 yards in the regular season. His averages of 8.0 ypc in all games and 8.8 ypc in Big Ten games are the highest ever for a Conference rushing champion since 1939 when the League started keeping records.
