Gullikson Practicing Despite Ticket

Despite his third drinking ticket in the past three years, junior forward Kevin Gullikson continues to practice with the Badgers.

MADISON - Junior forward Kevin Gullikson received his third citation for underage drinking in the past 16 months this past Sunday, but still practiced with the team Wednesday in preparation for its game against Illinois Thursday night.

According to a Madison police report, Gullikson was ticketed at 3:46 a.m. Sunday by a UW police officer after it was determined that Gullikson had a blood-alcohol level of .20.

Gullikson was also cited for underage drinking last August and in September of 2006.

After his last citation, he agreed to participate in an alcohol treatment program. He was expected to appear for a sentencing hearing in that case in March.

Bo Ryan didn't comment Wednesday. Through a team spokesman, the athletic department has been made aware of the situation and handling it internally.

Gullikson, who averages 1.8 points for the Badgers, turns 21 on Feb. 26. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Jan. 31.
