Robby Burge Update!

Robby Burge, a 6-foot-7, 295-pound, offensive lineman, from Holmen, Wis., visited the Badgers last weekend. Did Wisconsin offer Burge a scholarship? Badger Nation caught up with Robby to ask him about his official visit and future plans. Look inside.
“My visit went great,”
Robby Burge
told Badger Nation.
“We arrived on campus on Friday night and didn’t do a whole lot that night. On Saturday we had breakfast at Camp Randall and after that we met with a lot of people in academics.
“I spoke with a professor in the physiology department and we also met with a few academic advisors. Later on Saturday we had a meeting with the strength and conditioning coach.
“Saturday night we went to the hockey game and had dinner at the Kohl Center. Later that night, I went out with my host (
Korey Kasper
) and just hung out.”
Burge met with Coach Bielema on Sunday. Did Robby receive a scholarship offer?
“Right now it looks like I’ll be walk-on with preferred status,” Burge said. “The way it was explained to me is that I’ll be a part of the team but I’ll have to work hard to make the 105-man roster.
“Coach Bielema is a former walk-on at Iowa and he stressed to me the importance of being a walk-on and that if I work hard enough, I can eventually earn a scholarship.
“I’ve always wanted to be a Badger and this is really the only school that I ever wanted to attend so I’m fine with having to earn my scholarship.”
Burge’s coach, Steve King, was recently interviewed by the Holmen Courier and he had this to say about his mammoth tackle.
“Robby has all the physical tools to play at the next level,” King said. “He needs to understand that it's O.K. to be nasty when the helmet goes on. If Robby truly wants to compete at the next level he just needs to play hard 100 percent of the time.”
Burge was a three-year varsity letter winner at Holmen. He carries a 3.9 GPA in the classroom and scored 27 on his ACT.
