Verbal commitment Jake Current is known as one of the top road-graders in the Midwest. The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder, from Troy, Ohio is about to finish up a stellar career and he’s looking forward to getting to Madison in January.
“Well, we are 4-5 right now with one game left,”
Jake Current
told Badger Nation.
“We had a huge win this past weekend. We beat our rival Piqua 36-35 and a lot of people, fans and media are saying that was one of the best high school games they have ever seen.
“We drove the length of the field with 2:20 left on the clock and scored the winning touchdown and then got the two-point conversion for the win. I think we were three touchdown underdogs going into that game.
“I finished the game with 23 pancake blocks and I graded out at 94% on my blocking assignments. I also blocked an extra point and had a sack on a 4th and 13 play.
“At the end of the game, Piqua’s defensive end kept backing up and getting further and further away from the line-of-scrimmage.” The Ohio media and coaches haven’t voted on all-conference, area and state teams yet but Current is sure to take away a wheelbarrow full of honors.
Consider this. Former Troy offensive lineman and current San Diego Charger
Kris Dielman
finished his senior season with 94 pancake blocks. Current with one game left has a school season record 118 pancakes and a 93% blocking efficiency.
The Badgers are getting a good one in Jake Current and they get him early too. Current will be enrolled at Madison in January and will participate in spring practice in 2008.
