There are still a few home-grown high school football players in Wisconsin that the Badger coaches are keeping an eye on. One of those prospects is Drew Nowak, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound, offensive and defensive lineman from De Pere. Nowak talks recruiting with Badger Nation.
“I was supposed to come to Madison last for an unofficial visit.”
Drew Nowak
told Badger Nation.
“I didn’t make that game but I was invited back this weekend for the Iowa game which is going to be crazy.
"I have some offers right now but the Badgers haven’t offered. I grew up a fan of
Wisconsin
, so if they offered me, it would be tough to turn down for sure.”
Which schools have offered Nowak a scholarship?
“
Northern Illinois
,
Army
,
Air Force
and
Illinois State
have all offered, said Nowak. "I’ve had a lot of schools ask for senior film and I’m starting to get all that stuff put together right now.
“My favorites are Wisconsin, Iowa,
Minnesota
,
Duke
, Northern
Illinois
,
UNLV
and
Wyoming
. I don’t have any official visits set up yet.”
Nowak was brought up to the varsity his sophomore year and he has played several positions at De Pere. Drew started his varsity career as a defensive end. Last season, he had 95 tackles and five sacks. Those numbers were good enough to earn all-area honors.
“I’m being recruited on both sides of the ball.” Nowak said. “It all depends which school I’m talking with. Some schools say offensive line, others say defensive line and I’ve also heard tight end.
"I just want to get on the field so position or side of the ball doesn’t matter to me.”
This will be no ordinary Friday night as Nowak and De Pere will going head-to-head with Ashwaubenon and linebacker Mike Taylor, a Badger verbal commitment. Nowak carries a 3.4 GPA in the classroom and scored 20 on his ACT.
