Dex Jones, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound, linebacker/fullback, from Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic listed three schools as favorites this past Saturday. A trip to Madison this week was enough to put the Badgers on top of Illinois and Central Michigan.
“I committed to
Wisconsin
,” said
Dex Jones
. “I visited the school one last time this week and after my mom and I talked, we both said that Wisconsin seemed like the best fit for Me.
“I looked at a lot of factors. Playing time and academics being the most important, Wisconsin has great academics and academic support for the football players. Plus the depth chart at Wisconsin looked better for than the depth chart at
Illinois
.
“Illinois has a lot of guys coming in and playing early. Wisconsin has a senior at fullback and the depth cart at linebacker looks good as well.”
There have been a lot of questions as to where
Bret Bielema
and the Wisconsin staff see Dex Jones playing once he arrives in Madison.
“Coach Bielema and Coach (Randall) McCray both said that they see me at fullback or maybe an h-back type lining up at tight end at times. Coach Bielema told me that he liked my athletic ability and that I have good hands.
“Linebacker hasn’t been ruled out either. I think that the coaches plan to get me on campus and things will work themselves out. If I’m a better fullback, I’ll be a fullback. If I’m a better linebacker, I’ll be a linebacker.”
The Badgers recruiting efforts were once again led by assistant coach
Randall McCray
who continues to be a major player in Illinois and the Chicago land area.
