Notes from Wisconsin’s 41-24 win over Hawaii

• Brian Calhoun scored his 21st rushing touchdown this season, tying the school record for rushing touchdowns, set by Ron Dayne in 1996.

• John Stocco’s second touchdown pass to senior receiver Jonathan Orr Friday tied the school’s single-season record. Wisconsin’s signal-caller now has 19 passing touchdowns, tying him with Darrell Bevell (1993) and Randy Wright (1983).

• Orr has eight touchdowns this season and 19 in his career; he is now tied for third on UW’s career touchdown receptions list with Al Toon.

• Wisconsin set a single-season record with 422 points, surpassing the 1999 team, which had 409 points in a season. The Badgers had 381 points heading into Friday’s game.

• For the third time this season, Wisconsin has defeated an opponent 41-24. The Badgers beat Indiana Oct. 1, Illinois Oct. 29 and now Hawaii Nov. 25, all by a score of 41-24.

• Hawaii redshirt freshman receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen now has more than 1,000 receiving yards after hauling in 11 catches for 139 yards today. He has 1,061 yards after entering Friday’s game with 922 yards.

• Wisconsin has now scored at least 40 points in six games this season; the only other Alvarez-era team to score at least 40 points in six games was the 1999 team. Badger teams scored 40 points or more just seven times from 2000-2004.

• UW sophomore Ken DeBauche punted just once — a 37-yarder on Wisconsin’s opening drive — against Hawaii, while the Warriors only punted twice. The Badgers turned the ball over on downs late in the fourth quarter but scored on every other possession, minus two brief drives that ended the first and second halves.

• Wisconsin’s average field position at the beginning of its drives was at its own 38-yard-line, while the Warriors’ average starting field position was at their own 22-yard-line.

• There are eight Warriors who attended the St. Louis School in Honolulu and four who claim Kamehameha Schools as their alma mater. Badger senior center Donovan Raiola is also a Kamehameha Schools graduate.

• Hawaii racked up eight penalties for 74 yards, while Wisconsin had five penalties for 53 yards.

• Wisconsin sophomore kicker Taylor Mehlhaff averaged 63.8 yards per kickoff, while the Warriors’ freshman Dan Kelly had just 38.6 yards per kickoff, including an 8-yard onside kick late in the fourth quarter.
