Brandon Tobias has been kicked off the University of Wisconsin football team, according to a report in Friday’s Wisconsin State Journal.
Tobias, 20, has been charged with felony battery after a Jan. 26 fight at a downtown Madison bar. He had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf at an initial court appearance Thursday in Dane County Circuit court, according to court records. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 29.
Randle El suspension modified
Marcus Randle El, a freshman football player, had a suspension modified after an appeal, the university announced Thursday.
Randle El, who was previously suspended indefinitely after being tentatively charged with battery Monday afternoon, may return to practice no earlier than April 3. He will miss half of the Badgers’ formal spring workouts, which begin Friday afternoon.
