Senior guard earns Associated Press acclaim

Dan Buenning, a senior guard on the University of Wisconsin football team, was named an Associated Press second-team All-American Monday. Buenning will make his 49th career start Jan. 1, when the Badgers take on Georgia in the Outback Bowl.

A four-year starter, Buenning was a first-team All-Big Ten selection this year and an honorable mention choice last season. The 6-foot-4, 313-pounder has started 35 consecutive games for the cardinal and white.

Buenning was named a Wisconsin co-offensive player of the week twice. He also earned the school's Wayne Souza Coaches' Appreciation Award, given annually to the offensive player whose improvement, attitude and willingness has best contributed to the team's success.
