Strong safety Robert Brooks and defensive tackle Jason Jefferson were named Wisconsin's co-defensive players of the week Monday. Each played an integral role in the Badgers' 20-17 win over Purdue.
Brooks hit Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton high after corner Scott Starks hit him low, forcing a fumble that Starks scooped up and ran back 40 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Brooks finished with eight tackles and a pass breakup. In just five games since returning from a training camp injury, Brooks has 27 tackles, tied for sixth on the team. He also leads the team with three forced fumbles.
Jefferson provided an anchor in the middle of Wisconsin's line, playing nearly every snap in the second half for an injury depleted group. He finished with four tackles and a sack. He now has 17 tackles and three sacks this season.
