The Badgers victimized Michigan Tech's defense Friday night

1

So much for struggling to score goals.

By the time Adam Burish netted his first goal of the season, early in the second period Friday evening, Wisconsin had taken a 6-0 lead against host Michigan Tech.

The Huskies (0-2-1 WCHA, 2-3-1 overall) made it interesting, scoring four consecutive goals to close to within 6-4 at 7:20 in the third period, but the Badgers closed the game with another streak, notching three straight to come away with a 9-4 victory.

Wisconsin earned its first WCHA victory of the season against two losses and is now 4-3-0 overall.

The Badgers started with a flurry, beating Huskie netminder Bryce Luker on five of nine first period shots to take a commanding 5-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Following Burish's goal, though, Michigan Tech went on a binge of its own, culminating when Chris Connor, the nation's leading scorer, recorded his 12th goal of the season. Linemate Colin Murphy helped set up the play, tallying one of his three assists on the evening. Connor also had two assists and Taggart Desmet had two goals for the Huskies.

Forward Ryan MacMurchy led Wisconsin's scoring barrage with two goals and an assist. MacMurchy now has seven points in his last two games. Burish also tallied three points, contributing two assists in addition to the early second period goal. Wisconsin's nine goals were scored by eight different players.
