Camper Hoping for Wisconsin

Camper Hoping for Wisconsin

Although his scholarship list is impressive, Virginia Beach (VA) Frank W. Cox offensive lineman Blake Camper hopes to add an offer from Wisconsin before he makes his late summer decision.

Blake Camper's offer list is nothing to blush at. Holding power six conference offers from Louisville, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia, the Virginia Beach (VA) Frank W. Cox offensive lineman has a lot of options for his college of choice.

But Camper wants at least one more offer to consider, and he hopes he gets it from the University of Wisconsin.

"When you think of Wisconsin, you think of ‘O-Lineman U,'" Camper told BadgerNation. "They are sort of like a factory with really good football players."

It's one of the reasons the 6-7, 280-pound Camper was disappointed he had to cancel his appearance this weekend at the Badgers' high school summer camp because of travel issues. He was hopeful that he would earn a scholarship with a standout camp performance. Instead he remains in the waiting game.

"The biggest reason why they told me they want to take their time is because of a lot of really big linemen want to be there," said Camper. "They want to see where I was at with them and wanted to see how I fit with all the other recruits."

Being recruited by wide receivers coach Chris Beatty, Camper – a three-star Scout.com recruit - calls their relationship ‘great.'

"He's been really straight forward with me and I've always had a good relationship with him," said Camper. "I like the fact that his home is here (Virginia). He's coached at a local high school. We have a really good relationship."

As much as Camper likes Wisconsin, he still plans to make his college choice in late August, whether the Badgers extend a scholarship offer or not.

"If they do offer, that's awesome but I am not concerned if they don't," said Camper.

Saying he is wide open in his recruitment at this point, Camper is visiting Rutgers this weekend. He plans on cutting down his list to five or six by July.
