A raw prospect with high potential, Dallas South Oak Cliff cornerback Takadrae Williams was excited…
Commitment Impact: Takadrae Williams
Committed Over: Takadrae Williams committed to Wisconsin over offers from Colorado State and Louisville. He also claimed interest from Baylor, Houston and Texas. Rated: Williams is a two-star prospect by Scout.com. On Film: He is a long, lean defensive back prospect who has premium size at 6-1 and 175 pounds. He plays against solid competition and is good enough with his size to play corner. He could be a safety as he grows and matures, but shows good coverage skills and break on the ball as a cornerback. – National Recruiting Analyst Greg Powers Recruiting Impact: After going without a verbal commitment from the lush recruiting territory for five-and-a-half years, it seems Wisconsin has finally struck oil in the state of Texas. Dallas South Oak Cliff produces a lot of talent on an annual basis and for the Badgers to grab one defensive back, possibly more with teammates Willie Smith and X'zavien Ausborne holding UW offers, is a huge coup, especially since Williams has yet to visit. Entering today, Wisconsin has offers out to over 35 defensive back prospects in the 2015 recruiting class, a huge number. In terms of cornerbacks, the Badgers will graduate four players after the 2015 season, so building depth at that position is key moving forward. Final Thought: It'd be a surprise if Williams came in right away and contributed, as he is a raw track athlete. But the reason the Badgers and defensive backs coach Bill Busch recruited Williams was because of his upside, his competiveness and his development, which continues to get better with each passing season as you watch his film. His 6-1, 170-pound size is outstanding for UW, which has had trouble recruiting taller corners in the past. Junior Highlights
