MADISON – Following a week in which the Badgers went unbeaten and extended their winning streak to four games, UW swept the Big Ten weekly awards as Frank Kaminsky was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, while Nigel Hayes earned his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor.

Kaminsky, who shares the player of the week award with Nebraksa’s Terran Petteway, earned his first career double-double on Sunday at Michigan, pouring in a game-high 25 points, on 11-of-16 (.687) shooting and adding 11 rebounds.

The Lisle, Ill., native averaged 21.0 points per game last week, as he also scored 17 points, going a perfect 9-for-9 (1.000) from the free throw stripe and added six rebounds in a win against Minnesota on Feb. 13. For the week, Kaminsky shot 60.0 percent (15-of-25) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the free throw line.

Kaminsky ranks fourth in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (.544) and second among all Badgers in scoring (13.0). After his 11-rebound effort on Sunday, the junior now leads the team in rebounds per game (6.2).

This is the second career Big Ten Player of the Week award for Kaminsky.

Hayes, who averaged 9.5 points per game this week, earns his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks (Dec. 30 & Jan. 6, Feb. 10 & Feb. 17) on multiple occasions.

The freshman finished 5-for-7 (.714) from the field against Minnesota, tallying 15 points and adding four rebounds and a pair of steals. Despite scoring just four points Sunday against Michigan, Hayes has reached double figures in four of UW’s last five games, averaging 12.8 points per game during that stretch.

Hayes is averaging 10.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game during Big Ten play, leading all reserves in scoring and ranking second among all freshman. The Toledo, Ohio, native is also third in the conference in field goal percentage (.563) in Big Ten play.

In earning his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, the Toledo, Ohio, native trails only Indiana’s Noah Vonleh (7) for most this season.
