MADISON - Nebraska may have made a big impact with him the week before, but Wisconsin felt like home to Brooksville (FL) Nature Coast defensive end Rohan Blackwood.
One of four official visitors on campus over the weekend, the 6-5, 215-pound Blackwood ended his recruitment by choosing Wisconsin Sunday night. Blackwood broke the news via text message to the Tampa Bay Times.
Blackwood is the 12th verbal commitment to Wisconsin’s 2014 recruiting class and the third straight player from Florida. He picked Wisconsin over offers from Louisville, Miami, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Purdue, South Florida, Virginia, West Virginia and others.
“This weekend was great I think I found myself a home #badgernation,” Blackwood tweeted earlier in the day.
He is also the third defensive end to commit, joining Hartland (WI) Arrowhead’s Billy Hirschfeld and Milwaukee Marquette’s Conor Sheehy, as the Badgers continue to grab personnel who fit the new 3-4 defensive scheme.
Blackwood earned all-North Suncoast honors in basketball and football last year. He recorded 15 sacks and 69 tackles as a junior, and he averaged 15.4 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Sharks’ basketball team.
He’s ranked the No.94 defensive end in the country by FoxSportsNext.
