Riley sets record straight on Wisconsin

MIKE RILEY

CORVALLIS -- So, about that report that said Mike Riley would interview with Wisconsin by cbssports.com? The head man of the Beavs just threw some cold water on the idea following Oregon State's Friday practice in preparations for the Alamo Bowl. Here's what Riley had to say...

"My long term intention has always been to stay here at Oregon State," Mike Riley said. "I've said that a million and a half times."

Times change and people change – but Mike Riley doesn't plan on making any big commitments to Wisconsin any time soon. The hubbub spread very quickly last night after cbssports.com cited two unnamed sources that Riley was going to be interviewing for the Wisconsin head coaching job this week.

"All I got was a phone call letting me know there was interest," Riley said Friday. "There has been no scheduled interview, I have not talked to anybody from Wisconsin, and that's the truth. It's amazing to me that you are all asking about this."

Riley then elaborated, saying that he was made aware by a secondary source (not named) that Wisconsin may have some interest in OSU's winningest coach. Riley, ever the optimist, said that the idea that Wisconsin was interested is a positive.

"I think that it's a good thing," Riley said. "It happens when a staff is having success.

"I am not looking for an offer. My intentions are to stay at Oregon State, and that is what I'm going to do."
