U-M Comes from Behind to Beat Pitt, 67-62
At the 11:30 mark of the second half it was 44-39 Pitt.
Enter: the 1-3-1 zone.
Pitt got flustered by the 1-3-1, and quickly U-M went on a 9-0 run as Robinson hit a tre and a jumper and Hardaway hit a floater and 2 free throws, and the Wolverines took the lead 48-44 at the 7 minute mark.
Then down the stretch Hardaway made a tre and two jumpers and Robinson tipped in an offensive rebound, and it was 57-50 Michigan at the 1:50 mark.
Pitt didn't give up, scoring 12 points in the last 1:15, but U-M went a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line -- four each by Nik Stauskas and Trey Burke and two by Robinson--- to seal the victory, 67-62.
U-M shot 46.9% for the game, but just 17.6% in three pointers (3-17). Trey Burke led U-M in scoring with 17 points (although he was just 5-16 shooting and 0-4 form three), Hardaway had 16 points, Stauskas 15 and Robinson 13.
After the game Coach Beilein said, "We couldn't get open shots, they guarded us very well ... we learned about 'the big and the banging' tonight."
