Van Dort Taking Big Ten Visits

Zeeland West (Mich.) class of 2014 offensive lineman and tight end Jordan Van Dort talks about his recent trips and off-season plans.

Zeeland West's Jordan Van Dort, a 6'5, 270-lb junior, was one of the visitors in East Lansing last weekend when Michigan State took on Northwestern.

"It was a good game," he said. "It was kind of like any other recruiting visit. We got something to eat and then watched the game. I did not get to talk to the coaches this time."

Van Dort plays tight end for West, and has since he played varsity as a freshman. With his team's Wing-T offense, tough, blue collar football is the name of the game, and he saw that same smash-mouth style with the Spartans.

"They're physical. Most of the offensive lines in the Big Ten are physical."

As for further visits, Van Dort is going to head back to Evanston for his next unofficial.

"I'm going to Northwestern this weekend. The first visit went really well."

Next up, Van Dort starts basketball season, and he plans to keep working out and improving his skills for the next level.

"A little bit of both, working out and going to camps. Camps are when I can work on O-Line stuff compared to tight end."
