"It has been a great season," Starcevich said. "Its kinda crazy how fast things go. My senior season is almost over and I am fortunate still be playing, but I don't want it to end."
The talented hurler has yet to pull down his first scholarship offer.
"UNI (Northern Iowa), is really interested," Starcevich reported. "South Dakota, South Dakota State, Northwest Missouri State. Iowa Western is a really good JuCo option."
"As far as D1's go Iowa State is still there. They have been recruiting me since I was a sophomore. They have filled their only quarterback slot, so right now it would be a preferred walk-on"
"Right now as it stand they are no offers as of yet, but I am looking at it really positively. I am just going to stay focused, do my job, make plays and put up numbers and hopefully someone will notice and take a shot on me."
Starcevich trains with QB Edge quarterback coach Skip Stitzell, who has also had the opportunity to train and work with a large majority of the top arms from the area in recent years.
"With the number of quarterbacks I have worked with who are now playing at the highest levels I am just astounded at the lack of D1 attention shown to a quarterback with his skills," said Stitzell, who has trained over 25 D1 arms in recent years. "Trust me. He can play at that level."
"I am so impressed with the way he runs the team and controls the pocket. He doesn't turn the ball over and he is a team leader."
Starcevich looks up to the Southeast Polk quarterbacks that have come before him. He is the fifth in a a row from the high school to earn the starting nod as a sophomore and keep the job for three years. NFL gunslinger Kyle Orton started the trend in the late 90s.
"I look up to all those guys that came before," Starcevich informed. "Its like a tradition."
So far as a senior in 2012, he has completed 138-of-195 passes for 2,130 yards and 24 scores. He has only thrown two interceptions. His team has won eight games in a row.
"I lead my team," Starcevich explained when asked what his were his biggest strengths. "I have not lost a home game the last two years. I am a very accurate passer. I am very consistent with the football and I just lead."
