Keiston Smith Profile

Opposing coaches all scratch their heads usually when facing the Union County Yellow Jackets. Generally because most of them realize that you can't stop Keiston Smith, you just have to try to slow him down and try to rattle him. It generally doesn't work out too well when the Shrine Bowl selection is on his game and that was the case on Friday night as he helped Union County come away with a first round AAA playoff victory over Wren 56-28.

It was a show that many will not soon forget on Friday night as Smith was electric against the Golden Hurricanes. On the night Smith passed for 440 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air. He also showed off his wheels adding two more touchdowns rushing on the ground.

Smith's ability to run the Yellow Jacket offense has been a thing of beauty at times this season. Union County's record stands at 6-5 currently but Smith has kept them competitive in every game this season including a narrow loss against AAAA Gaffney.

He's long been our own personal selection as the state's top quarterback for a couple of years and he showed why again on Friday night.

Smith and the Yellow Jackets will travel next week to take on the Greer Yellow Jackets in a rematch. Greer was victorious 41-28 in their matchup back in September. The game should be another high scoring affair as both teams will be digging in to try and make it to the 3rd round of the AAA playoffs.
