Happ Picks up Wisconsin Offer

With Wisconsin's Elite Camp in full swing, the Badgers coaching staff extended their first offer to 6-7 sophomore forward Ethan Happ Wednesday night.

Game on for Rockridge (Ill.) 6-7 sophomore forward Ethan Happ, who picked up a scholarship offer from Wisconsin men's basketball coach Bo Ryan.

Happ's AAU coach, Jamie Johnson from the Iowa Barnstormers, confirmed the offer Thursday morning. Milwaukee also has offered while Arizona State is interested in the Class 2A AP and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association all-state honorable mention, Johnson said.

"When you're a sophomore at a smaller school, you don't really get a lot of attention. People in the area know he has a lot of talent," Johnson said. "It's maybe a little earlier than I thought, but if you like a kid, you go after him."

The Rockets went 22-6 last winter, and Happ was named to the Quad-City Times all-Western Illinois second squad. College coaches will be able to directly contact Happ starting today with the NCAA allowing unlimited talking and texting to high schoolers who have completed their sophomore year.

Happ is visiting Iowa next week.
