Morris, Elliott and Venables see Green

Schools from across the country have made their way to Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. to check out four-star running back Derrick Green.

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables stopped by in late April. About two weeks later, on May 7, offensive coordinator Chad Morris and running backs coach Tony Elliott checked in on Green.

“I’m the back they want. I definitely know they want to get me down there again on a visit. They’re showing me a lot of love. But that’s the main thing, I’m the back they want,” Green told CUTigers in a recent interview.

Oregon, Ole Miss, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Michigan, South Carolina and Alabama have been past Hermitage. Michigan offensive coordinator Al Borges will visit on Thursday.

Green has a couple of visits lined up this weekend.

“I’m to Tennessee and Vanderbilt. I don’t have anything else set up. I’m trying to get out to Oklahoma, Alabama and Auburn next month,” he said.

The No. 17 running back in the class of 2013, who once listed Clemson as a favorite, offered no list or order. He did note that a top-10 could be announced sometime this summer.

“I might take some unofficial visits to some schools [in the fall], then take my officials,” Green said.

Official visits won’t be made until his senior season comes to a close.

As a junior, Green rushed for 1,500 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.
