George Panos, a 6'5, 290-lb offensive lineman from Hartland Arrowhead who has started his first two varsity seasons at the school, became the first verbal commitment in Wisconsin's 2014 recruiting class when he received a scholarship offer prior to the start of Saturday's spring game.
Panos received an offer from Nebraska Friday, but announced his intentions via Twitter that he was following in the family footsteps.
"I'm gonna be a Badger #livingthedream #OnWisconsin"
Panos' dad, Joe Panos, was the captain of the 1994 Rose Bowl team and played seven years in the NFL. Now, he's the offensive line coach at Arrowhead, and with his father's tutelage, it's no surprise George attracted early attention.
"He's a huge influence on me," he told Scout.com of his father previously. "He's been coaching me since 5th grade, so we have really good communication. When he tells me something, I know what he means. He's taught me well. He's a good influence on me in life and school. He tells me to put grades in front of football."
Fox Sports will have more from Panos following the spring game
