MADISON - In meeting Thursday morning between UW athletic director Barry Alvarez, UW assistant athletic director Justin Doherty and former Badgers forward Jarrod Uthoff, UW Athletics have decided to lift all “permission to contact” restrictions outside Big Ten.
Uthoff has been notified of these decisions.
According to a statement released by UW athletics, the department debunks media reports that Uthoff requested 'permission to contact' 25 schools, saying Uthoff, "requested 'permission to contact' 16 schools, four of which were denied."
According to the release, UW coach Bo Ryan - who met with Alvarez and Doherty following the meeting - is supportive of denials of Big Ten institutions only and has wanted the appeals process to serve as a means for dialogue to occur between Uthoff and UW Athletics administration.
Uthoff told Badger Nation previously he wanted to appear the decision to restrict him from contact Indiana, Iowa and Iowa State. After the latest development, Uthoff can now talk to the Cyclones coaching staff.
If Uthoff wishes to further appeal the “permission to contact” denial to any Big Ten university, he may request a hearing to the Chair of the Athletic Board within eight business days.
Uthoff plans to take a visit to Creighton this weekend and has told Badger Nation he has no set timetable for his decision.
