Cox Picks Michigan State

After finishing his last official visit to Wisconsin this past weekend, four-star safety Demetrious Cox gives his verbal commitment to coach Mark D'Antonio and Michigan State Monday night.

Jeannette (Pa.) High four-star safety Demetrious Cox announced Monday that he will commit to Michigan State on Feb.1, the first day of football's national signing period, picking the Spartans over finalists Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.

The 6-1, 185-pound safety took official visits to each of his finalists. Cox visited Michigan State on Dec. 16, Penn State on Jan. 13, Ohio State on Jan. 20 and Wisconsin this past weekend. Cox also had offers from the Arizona State, Iowa, Maryland, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

Ranked as the nation's No. 8 safety prospect by Scout.com, Cox had 63 tackles and three interceptions his senior year.
