MADISON - Originally planning to announce his verbal commitment to the world on July 1, safety Kevin Brown didn’t feel the need to wait anymore.
Using the social medium of Facebook and Twitter, Brown announced his intentions to commit to the 2012 class of Cincinnati.
"It's official. I'm taking my talent to the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI!!!" Brown said on Facebook.
Brown – currently just a two-star safety by Scout.com - picked the Bearcats over offers from Air Force, Army, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Miami (OH), Temple, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan. Brown also has interest from Michigan State, Missouri, Northwestern and Wisconsin among others.
A 6-foot-1 safety, Brown totaled 65 tackles, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a junior for Indianapolis Lawrence Central.
Brown’s decision comes one day after camping at Wisconsin. The Badgers had been Brown’s favorite since early in the process and was one of his top schools after visiting for Wisconsin’s spring game. Thinking he would earn an offer at camp, his performance didn’t measure up for whatever reason, as Brown left Madison without a scholarship offer.
Rather than waiting, Brown decided to end his recruitment 10 days early.
